The Magic of Mentorship with City Year
City Year Baton Rouge Senior AmeriCorps member Marquis Robinson used his own life experience to be an impactful male mentor for his students. He learned through his own experiences the difference having a mentor makes. Read on to learn how he strives to be that person for his students.

To Keep Students Connected to #SchoolEveryDay, Remind Them How Much They Matter
City Year AmeriCorps members are committed to helping students, day-after-day and month-after-month, stay in school and on track to graduation, prepared for success in college, career and life. To keep students coming to school every day and engaged with their learning, we are working with schools to ensure belonging and mutual trust are reinforced within the entire school community.

Caring relationships and student well-being are key to academic success
Students need to feel secure and supported in order to thrive in school and in life. City Year AmeriCorps members develop positive relationships with the students they serve, helping to meet their social-emotional and academic needs. City Year is learning from other youth-focused organizations and research institutions about ways to support student and school success.
