In response to the damages in Texas, City Year Boston's community service initiative, Walk the Walk, is supporting City Year Dallas' relief efforts. The entire City Year Dallas corps has been called to serve the Houston evacuees in Dallas. We are holding a donation drive and will be sending all of our donated supplies to City Year Dallas so that they can distribute them where they are most needed.

Starting September 11th, collection boxes will be located in the first-floor lobby and the second-floor paint-can space on the second floor at City Year Boston (287 Columbus Ave. Boston, MA 02116). These collection boxes will be there from September 11 to October 26. We will be sending shipments to Dallas September 29th, and October 27th.

These are the items they need:

  • Toiletries: pads, tampons, diapers, toothpaste, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, flush-able wipes, black hair care products (coconut oil, Aussie products)
  •  School Uniform Parts:
Khakis, black or navy pants (HS, or all sizes)
White, purple, or gold polos for middle school students
Orange, white, or black polos for high school students (shirts must be collared)
    Black, white, or orange socks
    All socks
    Backpacks (ideally mesh)
  • Misc.: Insect repellent, school supplies, reusable water bottles, phone chargers, small first-aid kits

If you are unable to bring donations to City Year Boston but would still like to help, we encourage you to donate money to The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston who are working to maintain full functioning with staff in light of the disaster.

With any questions, including questions on how we plan to further assist those affected by the other natural disasters that have taken place recently, please email senior AmeriCorps members Sandy Fonseca-Lopes, Molly McPheeters, or Joe Katusich.

We appreciate all of your support in advance!
