At City Year, we know every child can succeed. Yet, there is a gap between what schools are designed to do and what students need. In high-poverty communities there are external factors that can impede student potential and make it hard for kids to come to school ready to learn every single day. Students need extra supports to overcome some of the challenges they are faced with every day.
City Year is an education organization fueled by national service and AmeriCorps to meet the needs of students. Many things will change in a student’s academic career, but City Year will always be there, forging relationships built on trust and consistency. Our goal is to saturate the feeder pattern of high-need schools, providing multiple years of support to students to catch up and keep up.
Our partnership with Duval County Public Schools is expanding to include two new school partners this year. We are delighted to announce the expansion of City Year’s program into Highlands Middle School and Smart Pope Livingston Elementary School for the 2015-2016 school year.
City Year is excited to cheer on the SP Livingston Cougars and the Highlands Wildcats.
We are thankful for the opportunity to serve in Duval County Public Schools alongside incredible teachers, administrators, parents, and community organizations. Together we will all ensure each child reaches his/her potential this school year.
