Lesa Scott is an extremely passionate and influential leader in the world of education. Beginning with her role as a teacher, she has always had a fierce commitment to the idea that every child deserves a quality education and that every teacher deserves to have the right tools to deliver on that. These two things came together in her tenure as the President of the Heinemann Publishing Company where for 14 years she build a community and company that was focused on teacher-voice and quality partnership and publication. During her tenure, Heinemann put 18,778,398 books into the hands of educators, and our professional development services put our authors and their work in front of more than a million teachers. Even though the country went through a major economic downturn, under Lesa’s leadership the company grew its revenue by more than 600%. It is no surprise that Lesa, in her role as our Board Chair and board member led City Year NH to higher standard and quality of service – measurement and implementation. Lesa’s leadership and Heinemann’s investment have been a major factor to City Year NH’s annual gala, Starry Starry Night, and its’ success over the past years.
Lesa spent many years as a classroom teacher. In 2001 she took over as President of Heinemann Publishing Company where she served until just a few months ago. Lesa now works as the President of the Education Group for Highlights for Children.
