What are you Reading this Month?
September marks National Literacy Month and it’s just in time for students who are gearing up to start a new school year. As an organization that is primarily focused on closing the achievement gap, City Year knows all too well the importance of literacy in a child’s life. Reading can unlock unlimited possibilities for children and create infinite learning pathways, but for a lot of children, it is an everyday struggle. That is why as Corps Members, we not only read to our students, but encourage them to read for pleasure. Check out some of the books that City Year Philadelphia’s Civic Engagement Team read for fun as children and spread the love of reading through this great list.
